BYOB (Bring Your Own Beamer) is an exhibition platform I started 2 years ago.
The idea is simple: Find a space, Invite many artists, Ask them to bring their projector.

This way you can make a one-night exhibition at zero cost. The artists provide their own gear, and this makes setting up very very easy. Easy means things are more spontaneous, something I felt was missing from art exhibitions.

I did not anticipate that it would turn into a series of exhibitions, but after the first one, people immediately requested to organize more BYOB’s in different cities. I posted a manual online, and the idea spread quickly. I am happy to announce that in less than 2 years over 83 editions have happened around the world.
Berlin, New York, Tokyo, Myanmar, Cuba, Moscow… they are all collected on the Official BYOB Google Map.

I haven’t counted all the names but my estimate is that more than a thousand artists were involved. I hope everyone enjoyed their event and their chance to exhibit their work. That is really what BYOB is about for me; the freedom of the internet brought to the exhibition space, the internet jumping out of the machine.
