Colorful abstract animations from 1926

Last week I visited the Whitney Museum and I was surprised by the work Raumlichtkunst by Oskar Fischinger.
In this work, abstract shapes and textures move according to music.

The original color films have been digitised and were shown in a big empty room with high quality projectors.

What surprised me is that the work is from 1926! I did not know color film was widely available back then, and that an artist would be able to afford to work with moving colors. If you have a chance, go see it at the Whitney Museum in New York.
