I really love animation, and I wanted to own an artefact.

Cel drawings are drawings on transparent plastic, that were used to create the frames of analog cartoons. Because cartoons require so many frames (25 per second), there are a lot of cels out there.

My first instinct was to find a historical production cel drawing; something from the 1930′s. But cels from “historical classics” are very expensive and there are a lot of forgeries.

Cels from the 1990′s are really cheap. It is the era right before digital animation. I found this Beavis & Butthead production cel for $90 on Ebay. Have a look for yourself, there are many amazing cels available.

I love looking at Beavis & Butthead floating in front of their couch.
