The fine line between simplicity and infantility?

Anne de Vries asks:
Can you tell us something about the fine line between simplicity and infantility?

Children see many things for the first time.
Things that are boring to adults can be amazing to children.
Things that are amazing to adults can be boring to children.

Art freezes things, so you can pause and stare and wonder.
To freeze things, simplicity is key, the simpler the better, the more isolated the more focus.

I always look for the fine line between something and nothing.

Too simple is boring.
Too much is too much.
